Johnson & Johnson has officially announced the opening of the new orthopaedic equipment section in its Centre, which will create 80 additional jobs between now and 2010.
This new area offers significant improvements in its instrument kit cleaning and distribution service. The kits are used in orthopaedic surgery by hospitals throughout Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
Jean-Claude Marcourt, Minister of Economics, Employment, Foreign Trade and Heritage in the Wallonia Region, was delighted with this new investment: "After Google, FedEx and Microsoft which has just set up operations in Hainaut, the new investment of Johnson & Johnson proves that the Wallonia Region has every right to take pride in its attractiveness to business and that it is fully engaged with new technologies. This is a very important new step for the Marshall Plan."
"This new investment by Johnson & Johnson is a wonderful illustration of the Priority Action Plan of the Wallonia Region. The biomedical sector, which Johnson & Johnson is a respected representative of, is one of our target sectors. Wallonia, which can act as a logistics hub for the rest of Europe, offers many assets to this type of industry. Future developments in Walloon biologistics will no doubt have positive consequences for the Centre in Courcelles."
