This information has just been confirmed by a study carried out by the Economist Intelligence Unit (a division of "The Economist" magazine). This study, entitled "World Investment Prospects to 2011", ranks Belgium 15th in a global selection of 82 investment countries.
In terms of direct foreign investment, Belgium ranks fifth in the world and second in Europe after Austria. It is even vying for first place in terms of per-capita investment inflows.
The authors state that within Belgium, Wallonia offers foreign investors "the highest growth potential of the three regions". This echoes the conclusion of another recent study, carried out by Cushman & Wakefield and focusing on logistics, which ranked the provinces of Hainaut and Liège second and fourth out of fifteen European regions.
